Commissioned painting for the cover of the first novel in the American Revolution series by James Fender, titled The Private Revolution of Geoffrey Frost (UPNE publ, 2002).  The scene is from the book and shows an American merchant ship (Salmon) pursued by a British frigate.  Both ships are being towed by their boats in an area 60 miles off Nantucket on a cold, windless morning in April 1776; the view is toward the north and a groundswell from the southeast presages a snow squall in which the merchant ship will try to escape.
